Barona Race Track - Oct 2010
My brother in-law purchased a lime green metallic Camaro race car last April as a roller. It is a 1976 Camaro with a 1970 front clip. For the past few months he has been reworking the wiring and transmission and put a motor in. He took it out for the first time in Oct. It was a beautiful day at the track. This was the first time he had it out and was planning on just test runs. The car ran fine but he discovered the suspension needed to be tweaked so only ran the car once.
Specs: 1996 454 Big Block Chevrolet, hydraulic roller cam/valve train, ported open chamber (large oval port) cylinder heads, 10 to 1 compression. The motor produces between 500 and 550 horsepower at 5500 RPM and 600ft lbs of torque at 4000 RPM. Turbo 400 transmission, large drums, clutch packs, high gear sprag, reverse manual shift body and Trans brake. 9" Ford rear end with 4.11 gears, 40 spline axles and 5/8 wheel studs, disc brakes all 4 corners.
