Preston School of Industry, Ione CA - Nov 2013
Preston Castle was built in 1898 to be used as a reform and rehabilitation school for juveniles. It is in the style of a Romanesque Revival and is one of the best examples in Northern California. Since approximately 1960 the building has been abandoned by the California Youth Authority.
Currently, the building is in the process of being rehabilitated because it has stood vacant for a number of years. My visit occurred just after the Halloween Haunted House tours, so there are a few decorations from that as well as some Christmas decorations being setup for next month.
